Life with a dog should be fun, if it isn't, something is wrong.

Whether it’s your dog’s barking and lunging at other dogs, their unpredictable and aggressive behaviour towards people, or their excessive barking and restlessness at home, living with a dog who struggles with day-to-day life can be exhausting and stressful.

You're probably here because of a recent incident or a build-up of things that has you at breaking point, and you’re looking for help before things get worse.

With the right support, things can get better. My 1:1 behaviour programme is designed to help you identify the root causes of your dog’s behaviour and address them, giving you real, lasting change.

Aggressive Belgian Shepherd Dog Behaviour.jpg

Bentley - Belgian Malinois

When I started working with Bentley, he was struggling with multiple aspects of day to day life; anxiety and aggression towards other dogs after being attacked, stressed around visitors and unable to settle, pulling on the lead, nervous around traffic and very impulsive and easily frustrated.

Over 4 months, we were able to reduce Bentley's anxiety and give him specific skills to cope with being around traffic.  We used Tywin to help him adjust to being around other dogs and created a predictable routine for visitors.

"I would like to thank Anthony for helping me and my dog Bentley. He's not stressed, more relaxed and happier."

Rory - German Shepherd Cross

When I started working with Rory, he was a very nervous and anxious puppy, probably the most intense puppy I've worked with.  He was referred to me from another local behaviourist due to his behaviour - barking and lunging at other dogs, pulling on the lead and poor recall.

Over several months, we were able to resolve his reactivity towards dogs - thanks to Tywin, massively improve his lead walking and recall and help him become a seriously lovely dog!

"Anthony went above and beyond, continuing to help and train even when our training package ended and has been an invaluable resource in helping Rory."

What's Included & Price

This is the programme I wish existed when I was struggling with my own dog — structured, yet never one-size-fits-all.

The Essentials

For dogs with 1 or 2 behavioural issues

£450

What's Included:

  • The initial assessment allows me to get a clearer understanding of your dogs issue(s) and the potential reason(s) for them.  This is usually done at your home (if safe to do so) and will cover every aspect of your dogs life.

  • Dog behavioural issues are often caused or made worse by underlying pain.  This analysis will help us identify if there are any physical issues affecting your dog.

  • After the assessment is complete, you'll receive a personalised behaviour plan that explains your dog's behaviour, immediate steps you can take to improve things and a long-term plan, with video and step by step guides.

  • A detailed veterinary report and supporting evidence, highlighting areas of concern.  I'll also liaise with your vet and help you navigate this phase to ensure your dog receives the treatment it needs.

  • 2 Follow-up training sessions are included to help you implement the behaviour plan and navigate any challenges that may arise.

  • WhatsApp/Email/Text support is available between sessions if you have any questions or need to discuss your dog's behaviour.

Why choose me?

Not only am I an experienced dog behaviourist but I also have first had experience of life with an anxious dog.

Tywin was a Belgian Shepherd, who we rescued at 5 months of age.  Sadly, he hadn't had a nice start in life, which made him very nervous and a chronic injury, that amplified everything.

Fortunately, we were able to work through everything and he became my work dog, helping other dogs overcome their issues.

This experience showed me just how important a holistic approach to resolving dog behavioural issues is and how stressful life with an anxious dog can be.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A dog trainer's role is to teach a dog new skills (walking nicely on the lead, coming back when called etc.) - think of them like a teacher.

A dog behaviourists role is to uncover and understand the root causes of behaviour and help owners address these causes.  They will deal with complex behaviours such as aggression, fear, anxiety etc. - think of them like a psychologist.

  • This is not uncommon.  When getting in touch, choose the issue that is of the most importance to you.  During our call, we will discuss every behaviour we need help with.

  • I specialise in working with aggressive, anxious, fearful and reactive dogs.

  • Nope.

Whilst in some situations it is possible to improve things in a short period of time, I focus on achieving long lasting behaviour changes and addressing the underlying issues behind the behaviours.

  • I would describe my approach as force-free and holistic.

Instead of trying to stop the unwanted behaviours, I take the time to identify the root causes of a dog’s behaviour and implement specific changes to address them.  When it comes to training, I only use force-free training methods which means I DO NOT use methods that cause fear or pain.

  • Unfortunately, no professional behaviourist can or should guarantee results.

Unlike a car, where we can just swap the affected part for a new one, dogs are living and sentient beings with their own emotions that require understanding and respect. What I can promise you is that I will give you and your dog the respect you deserve. I will also give you the most honest and appropriate advice to help you and make lasting behaviour change.

  • Should you need them, additional sessions can be purchased at a slightly discounted rate.

  • In-person behaviour support is available in; Banstead, Caterham, Coulsdon, Copthorne, Crawley, Dorking, East Grinstead, Edenbridge, Epsom, Godstone, Haywards Heath, Horley, Horsham, Leatherhead, Lingfield, Oxted, Redhill, Reigate, Smallfield, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Warlingham & Westerham.
