What the hell happened to your puppy?
If you’re on this page, you’re probably asking yourself that question. One minute your puppy was sweet, attentive & obedient. The next they’re ignoring you, acting like they don’t know the word sit & generally just being a bit of a dick. If your dog is between 6–24 months (depending on their size)…welcome to adolescence!
Dealing with a teenage dog is stressful. But it’s no picnic for them either. Growth spurts, hormones, brain rewiring & sexual maturity all hit at once, the perfect storm for chaos.
This is also when the tricky behaviours show up. Pulling on the lead, ignoring recall, jumping up or suddenly “forgetting” their training. Sound familiar?
That’s where my Terrible Teenager Program comes in. It’s designed to help you understand the reason(s) for your dog’s behaviour, how to prevent it getting worse & most importantly, how to navigate through this challenging time.
Client Review
“I would highly recommend Anthony to anyone! We reached out to Anthony about our 8 month Lab, Poppy, back in July. He has since helped us hugely with a few issues, including her barking and recall. Anthony is so knowledgeable, friendly and approachable – he has gone above and beyond to help us and given us the confidence to raise a good pup.”

The Importance of Adolescent Training
If puppy training is about laying the foundations, adolescence is where the house is built.
This is the stage where your dog’s behaviour begins to take shape. The choices they make, the habits they develop and how they learn to respond to the world now will influence the kind of dog they grow into.
Training should focus on reinforcing desired behaviours, preventing problem ones getting worse and making sure they aren’t signs of other issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age are dogs considered to be in their adolescent period?
Adolescence typically begins around 5–6 months of age and can last until around 18–24 months, depending on breed and size. Larger breeds often take longer to mature, which means adolescent behaviours can last a little longer too.
Will my adolescent dog be ‘fixed’ by the end of the programme?
Honestly, it depends.
Adolescence is a complex developmental stage and how things look at the end of the programme will depend on several factors, including your dog’s age, their individual maturity, breed, and what’s happening for them developmentally at the time. Hormonal changes, increased independence, fear periods, synaptic pruning, and social maturity all play a role and these don’t follow a neat or predictable timeline.
Because of this, no ethical trainer or behaviourist can promise to “fix” an adolescent dog.
What I can promise is that by the end of the programme, most owners feel far more in control, understand their dog better, and know exactly what to do next, rather than feeling stuck, frustrated, or constantly firefighting behaviour.
Think of it as guiding your dog through adolescence properly, not rushing them through it.
What behavioural issues can you help with in adolescent dogs?
All training is specific to you and your dog’s needs but in general, typical adolescent behaviour that requires help is impulse control, recall, pulling on the lead, jumping up, frustration and issues with greeting people and dogs.
What if I need more sessions?
Should you need them, additional sessions can be purchased at a slightly discounted rate.
