Overseas rescue dog behaviour support
Helping rescue dogs struggling with aggression, fear and anxiety in Surrey
Based in Redhill, Surrey and covering surrounding areas.
Does this sound familiar?
Initially everything seemed to be going well, they were sleeping, quiet and appeared relaxed but all of a sudden they started to display concerning behaviour; aggression towards people, reacting towards other dogs & being scared of everything. This sudden change can be unsettling. It might make you question whether life with a rescue dog is really for you. After all, shouldn’t they be happy now they’re safe?
Here’s the thing: overseas rescue dogs are different.
Unlike your friendly neighbourhood golden retriever who was bred to be friendly, these dogs have (usually) been born on the streets & raised by mother nature, whose only focus is survival and safety. That’s why the usual advice doesn’t always work. In fact, it can sometimes make things worse.
That’s where my 1:1 overseas rescue behaviour support comes in.
As a Romanian Rescue Pro Trainer, I have worked with hundreds of ex-street dogs who are struggling with aggression, anxiety, fear and reactivity. I focus on identifying the root causes of behavioural issues and addressing them in a force-free yet effective manner.

Client Review
“We chose Anthony for 1-1 training for our Romanian rescue puppy, Lola. We were first time dog owners and Anthony’s calm and no-nonsense approach was really great for helping us through the anxieties which come with that. Anthony had some great suggestions on how to reconfigure our house to help Lola settle into life with 2 slightly timid cats, and his advice on toilet training was a godsend!
Lola’s gone from a timid dog who wouldn’t go into the garden, let alone a walk, to a happy, confident dog.”

how it works
Programme Overview & Structure
Phase 01
Assessment & Understanding
The first step to helping your dog is to understand their behaviour and what’s causing it. This means we carry out a very in-depth assessment of your rescue dog, including:
- 2 Hour in-person assessment
- Lifestyle, environment and behaviour history assessment
- Pain assessment
- Immediate management/stress relief plan
Phase 02
Stabilisation & Foundations
The next step is to address the root causes identified during the assessment, reduce stress and begin teaching the skills needed to navigate the situations they struggle in. This includes:
- Personalised behaviour plan
- Vet report and support
- Foundation training skills and guides
- Additional guides helping you understand your rescue dog
Phase 03

Frequently Asked Questions
My rescue seemed fine at first, why are problems only showing up now?
Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon situation when it comes to overseas rescue dogs.
In most cases, overseas rescue dogs go through a ‘honeymoon’ phase where they appear to be ok, when in reality they are often shut down and overwhelmed, which makes them unable to show how they really feel.
Once they relax, usually over a few months, most rescues will start to display their true behaviour and this is when issues can become apparent.
What behavioural issues can you help with?
I can help with serious behavioural issues such as aggression, anxiety, fear, frustration and reactivity.
I can also help with common issues that effect rescue dogs such as poor recall, extreme pulling on the lead jumping up etc.
Why is pain part of your assessment process?
Pain and discomfort are often key factors in the majority of behaviour cases. Unfortunately, it can be very hard to identify when a dog is in pain but even more difficult when it comes to overseas rescue dogs who naturally hide their pain. By factoring in pain, we are looking at the whole dog and identifying the root causes of their behaviour.
What if I need more sessions?
Should you need them, additional sessions can be purchased at a slightly discounted rate.
What training methods do you use?
All the training methods and recommendations are force-free and take into account the unique behaviour that overseas rescues display.
